Food and Helpers are needed for the meal following Pioneer Clubs. Please sign up in the Narthex.

A World Day of Prayer planning session will be held at St. Stephen’s AME Zion Church at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23. If you are interested, contact Louise R.

The New Bern District Leadership Workshops will be held on Jan. 29, at Ann St. UMC in Beaufort from 3:00-5:00. Questions will be taken in advance via email concerning the transition to eight districts and how it will affect us.

To place a prayer request on the Prayer Chain, please contact Denise.

There is a new flower calendar in the narthex. If you would like to provide flowers, please sign up and then contact a florist. Both Sandy’s Flower Shoppe and Juanita’s House of Flowers have access to the church building.

If you haven’t scrolled through this website blog recently, please take the time to scroll down and view the slideshows for December. The Youth, United Methodist Men, and the Women of the Church have participated in activities that honor Christ, our Lord and Savior, this past month. We give thanks for His Blessings and Mercy.

Please join us this year through participation in Worship services, Sunday School, and various committees/groups designed to encourage each other and, through fellowship, grow stronger in our faith.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and yours.

UMM Steak Dinner

This year’s steak dinner was enjoyed by many of the St. Peter’s family. Those in attendance enjoyed terrific food, fellowship and a devotion delivered by Rodney Guthrie, President of the United Methodist Men. Rodney Baur is the 2012 recipient of the UMM Man of the Year award.

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

The Women of the Church celebrated Jesus’ birthday at Texas Steakhouse. As one can see, the food and fellowship helped to provide a pleasurable experience. Sonia Lewis, President of the group, offered a moving devotion along with prayer and gifts. Gift-wrapped socks were donated by the women for the Caroline House.

Youth Activities: End of the Year

As one can see, the Youth group activities continued through 2011. Not only did they help with Operation Christmas Child, they also helped members of the congregation by offering their gifts of service. Raking leaves and trimming the house for Christmas was a blessing not only to the people who were in need of helping hands, but also a blessing to our Youth. We give thanks for our Youth and the adults who are willing to lead them.

Band Concert

We are very grateful for the leadership of Arnold Adams and his home school band. This concert helped us to “get into the Christmas spirit” with the up-beat tunes. Many thanks to all who participated in making this year’s concert a blessing to all in attendance.

Morehead City Christmas Parade

On the first (and second and third and fourth) day of working some created a float.
Meanwhile, others were busy planning and making costumes to transform people into jingling bells.
Two members took on more sacred roles, portraying John the Baptist and Jesus.
Many others rode in the float (and van) to help bring the good news of Christ’s birth to those watching the parade. Not only were members on the float, walking in front and beside the float, but we also had others who represented our church in other areas of the parade.
We are truly thankful for all the participants–including the folks who were on both sides of the street encouraging our group as they traveled down Arendell Street. What a wonderful way to begin our celebration of Christ’s birth! Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Parade: “Jingling for Jesus” float
Saturday, Dec. 10th, at 11:00 am.

Children’s Christmas Program
“The Christmas Story: Jesus Christ is the Same-Yesterday, Today and Forever!”
The Bell Choir will perform at 6:00 pm and the program will follow.

Homeschool Band Concert
Thursday, Dec. 15th at 7:30 pm.

Caroling and Chili
Meet at 5:00 pm on Sunday, Dec. 18th to carol around Mitchell Village. Afterwards we will return to the church for chili.

UMM Steak Dinner
The UMM/Fishermen invite the congregration to their 2011 Steak Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 6:30 pm.

Soup Kitchen on Christmas Eve
St. Peters will serve at Hope Mission Soup Kitchen on Christmas Eve. The menu for the day includes: spiral ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, dinner rolls and dessert.

Christmas Eve Candelighting and Communion Service
You are invited to the Christmas Eve Candlelighting and Communion Service on Saturday, Dec. 24th at 7:00pm.

One Service of Worship on Christmas Day!
On Sunday, December 25, there will be only one Service of Worship. Sunday School will begin at 9:30 am and the Worship Service will begin at 10:30 am. What better gift to give to the Lord on His birthday than your presence at His house!

New Year’s Eve Communion and Covenant Service
Enter the new year in covenant and communion with our Lord and one another at 7:00 pm.

Crystal Coast Choral Society
Two concerts: Saturday, Dec. 10th, Brookwood Baptist Church in Jacksonville at 7:30 pm and Sunday, Dec. 11th, at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church at 3:00 pm.

Volunteer Training for Family Promise will take place this Saturday, November 19, at 9:30 a.m. at First UMC (9th and Arendell Streets, Morehead City). This training, which usually lasts around an hour, is required for all who wish to help with Family Promise. Community “Yard Sale” Outreach, Saturday, Nov. 19 (Rain Date: November 26) 8:00am – 12pm
Morehead City Parks and Recreation Facility 1600 Fisher Street
This is an opportunity for area churches to come together in the name of the Lord to minister to our community. this event is a yard sale with a twist. All th e tiems are fee. People will be encouraged to take what they need and leave the rest for their neighbors.

A trip to see the drama, “Judgement House” is planned for Saturday, Nov. 19. We will leave St. Peter’s Church at 3:00pm and return around 11:00pm.

Community Thanksgiving Service of Worship Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7:00pm at Crystal Coast Church of the Nazarene (4311 Country Club Road, Morehead City). Rev. Joseph Frankin, Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church will be preaching.

Operation Christmas Child Trip to Charlotte (for packing Project Christmas Cheer boxes) will be Nov. 24th; return trip is Nov. 25th.
